Finding a brand's DNA with cotton swabs and petri dishes.
To create the visual identity for OFFF, an international festival of art, creativity, and design, a UK design firm secretly collected bacteria and biological traces from creatives attending OFFF mixers, then grew them into the colorful molds and textures that became the festival's branding, aptly titled "Cultured". Yep, a visual identity not just made BY humans, but made OF humans. Ewww. But awesome. But also ewww.

Forget Chateau Marmont: LA's cool people can be found in an abandoned hospital.
A vacant Los Angeles hospital has been transformed into an immersive art experience called Hospital of Emotions. Instead of patients, the building now houses work from 70 artists across 80 rooms based on eight themes: joy, love, fear, anger, hope, sadness, compassion, and resilience. Tickets are not cheap, insurance doesn't cover it, but hey, it's highly unlikely that you'll contract a superbug or accidentally die during your visit.

Some people collect old typewriters. This artist makes them fly.
Artist Jeremy Mayer scours shops and trash bins near his Bay Area studio for analog typewriters in disrepair that he then disassembles, sorts, and reconstructs into metallic bird sculptures that spread their wings and bob their heads. So much more interesting than sticking that old Smith-Corona on the shelf next to your collection of old radios and collectible spoons.

The current World Cup MVP might just be a duck from Mexico.
Merlin, a 2-year-old duck living in Mexico City, has become an unlikely internet sensation and the tournament’s first unofficial mascot. Rocking a duck-size Mexico national team jersey and socks, Merlin strolls the city and lets fans snap photos with their newest folk hero. Chances are slim that he'll take the pitch during a match, as that would likely draw a penalty and as we all know, Merlin is a walking fowl.

OMG you guys! It's a positive story about AI!
Midjourney, one of the OG's in generative AI image making, just announced the craziest product pivot ever: The Midjourney Scanner is a new medical machine that can scan your entire body in 60 seconds. Your body is submerged in water where it passes through a ring made of half a million squares the size of a grain of sand, with each one of them capable of emitting ultrasonic waves and of recording the ripples that bounce off your body and back to it. Yes this is real, and Midjourney is even building spas where you can find the machines and get scanned. Maybe pair it with a Himalayan salt scrub facial?
